Cycling Tips: How to Pack the Bike Properly

To packing the bike properly, you have to know the steps about what we have to do for this action because if you have long journey but you don't pack your bike properly, it may your bike got errors in some parts, so the knowledge about how to pack the bike properly is needed.

The first step to pack the bike properly is preparing the bike box, it's easy to find the bike box. Local bike shop should have this so you will find any difficulty for the first step. But, find the bike box that your bike will fit in, so you have to know first about your bike size, and again this is not a difficult step.

Second step, reduce the tire pressure to make a proper packing of your bike; reduce the pressure properly, soft enough to receive the disruption from outside and it can be muted well.

The next step, remove the pedal to make it easier when packing the bike; when the pedals are removed, the bike will be easier to go to the bike box. Then, also remove the brake, mostly on front brake.

Then, the other parts that need to be remove are seatpost and the saddle, and also the handlebar and stem; yea, cockpit have to be removed when packing the bike into the bike box goodly. After all parts have been removed, you need to add cardboard, or something that can be the protection for the frame and fork.

Use the cardboard or something to cover the frame and fork so it can avoid the friction with another parts removed before. Then, the bike box has been waiting, so you need to place the bike into the box properly and the bike is ready to be shipped.

The term "cars are killer" is almost right if we are cycling, car drivers even will attack us with the dirty words like, umm yeah you-know-what. And another term "you own the car not the road" also true, or banner with the letter "real men use these pedals" (with the sign to the bike pedals picture). This situation almost happen in most of countries, except Holland, maybe; we know that the bikes are more than cars there.

Despite cycling activity have so many benefits for human, and not only for human but also it gives benefits to the earth, nature, and another entities. But, how cycling activity can help you live a better life can be seen to the advantages of this activity to our body. How?

First defense of the body to keep us healthy, the immune protects us from the viruses and infection and based on some research, cycling activity can make our body stronger. Moreover, cycling activity can prevent the immune of the body and give more protection to the possibility of cancer and tumor. 

2. Strengthen the Muscles
Muscles are important - everything in our body is important, right? - but it needs to know that when someone is inactive for a week, the performance of muscle will decrease up to 50%. Cycling activity provides the muscles a very good training to keep it active and it makes the muscles stronger and efficient.

3. Strengthen the Skeletal System
Cycling activity can strengthen human's skeletal system, and give more power and flexibility.

Bike Guide: Install the Rear Derailleur

The technology of mountain bike today becomes more complicated and complex, but as bike owner we have to learn about simple and basic things on having mountain bike; the derailleur. Derailleur system is one of the old technology, and have improved for certain scene of biking. Basically the derailleur on cross country bike is same as the derailleur on all mountain bike, so the knowledge about this part is very important.
On this first session of "Bike Guide", we will learn more about "how to install the rear derailleur." But some tools will be needed to install the rear derailleur, and we can assume that we all have basic tools for mountain bike.
The installation is simple but the complex thing is how to set up so the shifting and rear derailleur have good acceleration. This is important, because when the shifting system is not good, this will be problem if we want to climb but the rear derailleur have not in good response. Then, how to make it have good response? The step is we can preset the high limit (H) and then drift the shift wire back to the derailleur. Then find a bare stretch of cable and give it a good pull to make sure the cable is seated and has no slack. Then loosen the wire, pull it tight again and re-tighten it.
