Kona Process 2014 Prototype

Before we learn more about this new bike from Kona, it might be better to see the details first, so we can imagine what this bike is, and what is the different from its ancestor. Well, this bike will be regarded as the Kona Process 2014 Prototype, and this bike consists of 29'ers and 27,5" wheels with 160 fork travel. It has 66,5 degree of head angle, 425mm length for the chainstay and 142x12mm thru-axle with internal cable routing model. And this type will be offered in three types, they are Kona Process 111, Process 134, and Process 153 with each of them are different in wheels travel. The Process 111 is a 29'ers, and 27,5" inch wheels will be used in both Process 134 and Process 153.
Maybe the most interesting is the modification in the thing called Kona Walking Beam, which is eliminated in this Kona Process 2014 Prototype. That classic Kona's linkage now has been replaced with the rear swing arm U-Shape model, so the top tube mounted shock will be activated by this new model. All three models of Process are using the combination of short stem and long top tube to get perfect and stability when the bike is in speed. The recommended stem is about 40 mm long to achieve the aim, the stability control. This bike has been tested in DH race, and it seems that the carbon version will be available soon in the market.
The internal cable routing seems getting popular in many new bikes, and Kona has placed the internal cable routing in the Kona Process 2014 Prototype for the rear derailleur and it's designed as strong and stiff. The benefit of the use of internal cable routing is for the security, especially in an extreme tracks like downhill or freeride tracks. Overall ride of the bike is comfortable, even in high speed. For this, it might we have to thank with the combination the long top tube in the geometry concept with the short stem.
